These systems are not compatible with each other
The Hymer Hook-In multifunction rail and the Dethleffs aluminium rail use completely different mounting profiles. An accessory designed for one will not fit the other. This page shows you exactly how to tell them apart so you can order with confidence — or message us if you're still not sure.
The Hymer Hook-In multifunction rail is a dark aluminium channel mounted horizontally on interior walls. Accessories slide in from the side or top and lock into position along the channel. The rail appears in multiple locations — kitchen, bathroom, entrance, bedroom, and living areas.
Also known as
Hymer refers to this system as the Hook-In multifunction rail or Hook On Elements system. You may also see it called the Hymer wall rail, Hymer multifunction rail system, or Hymer hook on rail in owner forums and accessory listings.
How to identify it
- Dark anodised aluminium channel — usually black or dark grey
- Rectangular slot profile running along the top edge
- Accessories clip in from the top and slide horizontally
- Found on interior walls throughout the motorhome
- No visible screws or fixings on the accessory once fitted
Found in these vehicles
Hymer ML-T, Hymer B-Class, Hymer Grand Canyon, Hymer Venture S, Hymer Ayers Rock, Hymer Yellowstone, Hymer Yosemite, Hymer Crosstrail, Hymer Crossover — and Eriba campervans. Fitted from approximately 2020 onwards depending on model.
The Dethleffs rail uses two parallel round aluminium bars running horizontally along the wall. Accessories hook over both bars simultaneously. The profile is visually very different from the Hymer system — where the Hymer rail is a single channel, the Dethleffs rail is two separate rounded bars.
The Hook-In Elements Dethleffs range was developed by sourcing an original Dethleffs rail and designing every accessory directly to it — not from customer measurements or approximations. Every Dethleffs product is tested for fit before it goes on sale.
How to identify it
- Two parallel round aluminium bars — bright silver finish
- Bars run horizontally, fixed to the wall at intervals
- Accessories hook over both bars from the front
- Spacing between the bars is consistent along the full length
- Rail is usually found in the kitchen and living area
Found in these vehicles
Dethleffs motorhomes and campervans. The exact models vary by year — if you have a Dethleffs and can see two parallel silver bars on the wall, this is your rail.
Some motorhomes have a counter edge rail — a thin lip or channel running along the edge of a worktop or countertop. This is a completely different system and is designed to prevent items sliding off surfaces rather than to hang accessories from a wall.
None of our Hook-In Elements accessories are designed for this type of rail. If this is what you have, please don't order — the products will not fit and you'll need to return them.
How to identify it
- Located along the edge of a worktop or counter surface
- Usually a shallow lip or narrow channel
- Runs along the front or side edge of a flat surface
- Not mounted on a wall — sits at counter height
